The Standard, NY

A friend called and said meet me in NY for dinner at The Standard in NY and, with four hours notice, I said of course, hopped on a plane and by 7pm was in NYC. The Standard is a new, trendy, fun, and fabulous experience in NY's meatpacking district. www.standardhotels.com/new-york-city. I will say that their decision to have non-reflective glass windows leads ones imagination to go wild. It was a fun night. A fun escape to the city. And a very fun time with old friends (aren't they the best kind). By 9am I was off to Chicago for an event.

Corporate Events

I spent the week in very warm Dallas, Texas for a week long corporate event that will take me from Dallas to Chicago, Atlanta and finally ending in Las Vegas over the next four weeks. It seems as if the world is slowly coming back after recession-based budget cuts and a long summer recess.

Surprise Birthday Party

This afternoon proved to be a great day for a surprise birthday party. The warm weather placed it's exclamation point on the brightness of family and friends, some of whom traveled far to be there for the guest of honor. The most gracious hosts had a stunning home and amazing gardens. Photos courtesy of CA Smith Photography http://www.oceanexposure.com/

CK Bradley

The thing I love about Kennebunkport is the opportunity to wear some of my favorite clothes. For the surprise party I dusted off one of my favorite CK Bradley skirts. Her Newport style fits right into life in Maine. Note for future: when walking outside (from inside) with a cake of lit candles, be sure the wind is not strong (or your candles are the trick kind that do not blow out!)

Maine Lobster Bake

Maine is a playground for event planners and tonight's lobster bake was an event that I will always enjoy planning (and attending). I love watching a host share with their out-of-town guests the best that Maine has to offer. The lobsterbake was catered by the Clam Shack http://www.theclamshack.net/. Photos were taken by one of the guests, Washington, DC based, former White House Photographer Paul Morse http://www.paulmorsephotographs.com/.

Southern Maine Medical Center / Dorothy Walker Bush Emergency Pavilion

Tonight I attended the Southern Maine Medical Center's celebration of the Dorothy Walker Bush Emergency Pavilion at the River Club in Kennebunkport. Thanks to our friends Cyndi and Chris Smith, we have a few fun photos of the evening. http://www.oceanexposure.com/ My friends in Maine are very active and caring people who take the time to celebrate the milestones they reach.

Brea McDonald

I had a great meeting with talented photographer Brea McDonald this morning. She shared her wonderful photos and experiences from weddings and events on Nantucket Island and now New England. We are lucky to have so many artistic photographers at our fingertips! http://www.breamcdonald.com/
